Feature Improvements

- All players in a multiplayer game can now use the “Stuck?” radio command.

- Vehicles will now be teleported by the “Stuck?” radio command.

- The “Stuck?” radio command now won’t teleport you all the way back to your base.

- Players can now use the Workshop facility to repair or salvage equipped weapons, rather than having to drop them into the Supply Locker first.

- Salvaged weapons now return their ammo to your Supply Locker instead of destroying it.

- Info flyouts for outposts on the map screen now show the outpost number, which corresponds to the outpost number in the base management screen.

- Players will now see a banner at the top-center of screen when a community member dies, instead of the brief side notification that previously popped up.

- Players will now see a banner at the top-center of screen when a community member threatens to leave or leaves, instead of the brief side notification that previously popped up.

- Communities will now automatically claim an appropriate “starter” home site when traveling to a new map.

- Several radio commands have been enabled for clients in multiplayer games.

- Players can now drop equipped weapons.

- Players can now buy 1 individual item from a stack when trading with enclaves.

- Players can now navigate conversation options with Left Stick as well as D-pad controller input.

- The Supply Locker is now automatically sorted by item type. Additionally, the Ranged Weapons tab has the option to sort by either ammo caliber or weapon type.

- The Mysterious Wandering Trader now appears more reliably.

- Adjusted the cadence of the Independence Pack DLC trader to better balance with the Wandering Trader.

- The mission that creates the trader who supplies skill books is now called “Skills Trader” (to more clearly communicate its different nature).

Also, this mission can now occur during the week (and not just on weekends).

 Balance Changes

- When you abandon an outpost, you’ll be refunded only 60% of the original influence cost, instead of 100%.

This increased investment in an outpost is intended to make it feel like a significant choice by the player,

rather than an easily swapped “loot-drop” location that drastically alters the overall experience.

- Proximity mines are no longer triggered by players or by friendly NPCs.

Bug Fixes

 Gameplay

- Players can now improve their Close Combat Specialization skill.

- Players trying to descend a ladder will no longer experience confused Up/Down controls when the ladder animation involves a camera flip.

- Explosives now set off other nearby explosives, such as land mines. Have fun with that;)

- Losing a benefit that reduces the severity of trauma can no longer kill a character (due to retroactive increase of trauma).

- Certain rare skills learned from books will now always start at Level 1 as intended.

- Skill books can no longer be consumed if they would not grant any benefit.

- Fixed an issue with fire occasionally (and invisibly) remaining in effect beyond the appropriate duration.

- Recon radio commands now reveal zombies for all players, not just the host.

- When calling in favors over the radio, the enclave that owes you the favor will now answer, rather than someone from your own community.

- Facility actions can now be truly instantaneous (cost 0 seconds).

UI

- When a home site or previously cleared site becomes infested, it now properly shows an infestation icon on the map.

- The minimap now zooms in correctly when indoors at an infestation or plague heart.

- The Out of Storage notification now properly triggers when you deposit a rucksack that brings that resource level from just below your base’s maximum capacity to above the maximum capacity.

- The base management screen’s morale flyout now correctly uses the morale effect’s name instead of the name of the facility providing the effect.

- Notifications for certain rare skills learned from books now show the correct maximum skill level.

- The UI for your Storage facility now indicates when withdrawing a rucksack is not possible due to insufficient resources.

- Fixed an issue with the player’s vehicles not showing up on the map UI after moving to a new map.

- Flyout info for sites on map screen should now properly show icons for all expected resources.

- When using the mouse on the map screen, the goal info flyout now shows when hovering over a goal in the list, instead of requiring it to be clicked.

- Labor and time costs are now shown for facility mod uninstall actions.

- Clients can now see when their car is properly parked at the host’s base.

- Clients can now see the name of vehicles while surveying.

Audio

- Added error sound when attempting to select unavailable radio command.

Key Bindings

- Players who have remapped Struggle and Melee actions to different inputs can now use either one to open locked doors.

General Issues

- Fixed an exploit involving buying and selling stackable items with traders to earn massive amounts of Influence.

- Removed some locks and crashes associated with pop-up boxes.

- Fixed a handful of buildings that were inaccessible due to collision.

- Fixed a number of localization issues.

Characters and Communities

- Random “resource loss” events are now dependent on morale and traits. If you recruit carefully and keep everyone happy, then random resource losses should be a thing of the past.

- Characters who incur “resource loss” events because of low morale will now receive a temporary morale benefit for doing so. IE, they binged on a bunch of food, but at least it made them feel better.

- Skilled characters will now sometimes provide the community with new free items in place of the “resource loss” events.

- Exiles should now always count towards exile-related achievements.

- Characters from other enclaves will no longer receive the large-scale death-banner treatment when they die.

Bases and Facilities

- Fixed an issue where facilities would sometimes stop building when the main menu was opened.

- Fixed an issue where weapons would be repaired for free.

- Fixed collision on the Sniper Tower to allow it to be scaled.

- Fixed a case where the old Rally Point bases could still be claimed.

- Extended the new resource-counting prompt for depositing rucksacks in the generic Storage facility to apply to specialized Storage facilities as well.

Missions

- Fixed an issue where some missions would provide deceptively large piles of resources.

- Fixed many cases where critical NPCs would not show up for missions (or in one case, would attack you for no reason).

- Fixed an issue with the Warlord: The Informantmission, which was not counting vehicle kills.

- Fixed an issue with the Builder: The Call Is Answeredmission, in which some enclaves would flee the player’s home site.

Gameplay

 - Armored zombies are no longer killed by flames. Instead, they catch fire and become scarier, like a juggernaut;)

- Zombie kills with vehicles should now count towards zombie-killing achievements.

- Fixed some issues where zombies would spawn trapped in geometry.

- Fixed an exploit that allowed some clients to easily blow up the host’s vehicles.

- Fixed an issue with indefinitely persistent C4 charges left by dead characters.

Key Highlights

- A minor scripting error caused our new and improved resource loss events to behave just like the old ones,

which was not an improvement. Now they actually behave as intended, with resource losses depending on low Morale and negative Traits.

- We made some changes to address the bug that caused an audio blowout and loss of all sound.

This problem is stubborn and elusive, so please let us know it you encounter it again after installing the update.

Daybreak Fixes

- Red Talon now offers an explanation when they cannot send a contractor to a full community, rather than leaving you hanging.

- Red Talon facilities now inform you that you were refunded the rare items needed to build them when they are dismantled.

- Fixed an exploit that allowed Daybreak clients to hang around on the rewards screen and get rewards without playing.

- The Select Starting Gear menu in Daybreak should no longer show inappropriate item descriptions when navigating off the edge of the menu.

- Ferals should no longer be able to vindictively disable walls if killed while climbing.

- Crawling zombies will no longer attempt to imitate helicopters by spinning their legs in the air.

Other Notable Fixes

- The Purchase button for the Independence Pack actually goes away now when you buy the pack, instead of waiting to ambush you.

- The Independence Pack banner should no longer jump in at inappropriate times after cinematics.

- Legacy characters with Red Talon’s Compact Ordnance hero bonus should no longer crash the game.

- CLEO Fire Support is no longer blocked when you are aiming your gun.

- Characters with full Stamina will no longer waste snacks.

- Kicking too many clients in rapid succession should no longer soft-lock the game.

 - The Survey Mode prompt should no longer follow you into a friend’s game and awkwardly hang around.

- Hostile humans should no longer wink out of existence when hit with a car. They were getting off too easy.

- Prestige now accurately counts towards the achievement “The Turn”.

Critical Fixes

- We were finally able to reproduce the dreaded audio blowout bug in a dev environment, and we have a new intended fix.

As before, if you encounter the bug after installing the update, please let us know!

Daybreak Fixes

- Red Talon traits, skills, and hero bonuses should no longer appear on non-Red Talon characters.

- Fixed an issue where, if a player in Daybreak looking at the shared inventory disconnected, other players were blocked from accessing the inventory.

- You can now properly deliver the special “standing execution” move unlocked by the Heroism skill. All that Red Talon training has to be worth something, right?

- The Tactics skill now properly allows a character in stealth to silently open locked doors.

- Red Talon recruits who are euthanized no longer remain static in a standing position. Because that’s just a little TOO disciplined.

- Players will no longer automatically (and erroneously) unlock the “Cargo Cult” achievement while downloading Daybreak.

Building the CLEO Relay Facility is how you get it now, as originally intended.

- It’s no longer possible to accidentally place the Red Talon Watchtower facility into a slot that prevents your survivors from actually being able to get inside the facility.

- Bloater gas clouds in Daybreak now play their proper audio every time. These guys may be deadly, but they’re not silent.

- The description text for the Remote Rocket Pod now clarifies that you can only detonate one of them at a time.

Other Fixes

 - Fixed a soft lock that would occur if a player died (via injury) while entering a vehicle at the same time.

It sounds weird and hard to pull off, but it was totally happening.

- Fixed a number of localization issues.

- Fixed an issue where the game would hardlock after the player destroyed a plague heart, or in situations where there was an abundance of plague zombies.

We believe this was also causing crashes and hard locks in Daybreak.

- Made a number of changes to address the save issues that many players were experiencing. (Save files were becoming too large to upload to cloud saves.)

- Zombies no longer visibly run in place when grouped together near a lot of objects.

- Fixed an issue that caused zombies and NPCs to appear to run in place when the player was inside a vehicle.

Highlights

- We made several balance changes to the Daybreak rewards: CLEO guns are better, CLEO ammo can be crafted, and Red Talon contractors are cheaper … though a bit more unruly.

- We added some new facility actions: you can craft Ammo, Meds, and Food, and you can teleport gas cans and repair kits straight into parked vehicles.

- We amped up the benefits of allied enclaves, and added the option to dismiss trader enclaves when you’re trying to summon a new one and there isn’t any room for them.

- We added the ability to use simple consumables while in a vehicle.

- We bumped up the size of zombie hordes late in the game.

Daybreak Mode & Content

- CLEO guns have been rebalanced to make them more valuable in the base game.

All CLEO guns are 20-40% lighter.

All CLEO guns (except bolt-action rifles) are 15-25% more durable. (Bolt-action rifles can’t be more durable than they already are.)

All CLEO guns (except pistols) are about 20-30% faster to reload. (CLEO pistols were already unusually quick.)

- CLEO ammo is now much easier to acquire in large amounts, though it still always costs prestige.

The Red Talon Crafting Station allows you to manufacture CLEO ammo at will, spending prestige, circuitry, and Ammo from your resource stockpile.

The CLEO Relay now offers a CLEO Drop alternative that delivers 8 stacks of CLEO ammo.

Gameplay

- Many simple consumables can now be used while in a vehicle.

This includes bandages, painkillers, and other consumables that don’t involve throwing, placing, or playing a complex animation.

Consumables that cannot be used within a vehicle are now shown as unavailable in the HUD while you’re inside a vehicle.

- Allied enclaves now offer a greater variety of more powerful enclave benefits, to make the time spent befriending and supporting them more worthwhile.

- Late in the game, zombie hordes can now be up to three times as large as before. (You asked for it …)

- When summoning a trader over the radio, you will sometimes have the option to dismiss an existing trader to make room for them, if that’s what it takes to get them into the map.

- Ranged weapons no longer jitter in your hands as you aim left and right.

- A new option in the Gameplay section of the Settings menu allows you to ensure that no weird zombies (such as clowns, coneheads, and war reenactors) appear in your game.

- We fixed a bug related to rapidly placing explosives that could result in premature detonation and character death. Sounds painful.

- We increased the size of safe zones created by clearing large sites to more accurately encompass their area.

- Survivor traits that reduce the number of required beds should be accurately counted by morale system.

- We fixed an exploit that prevented hostile enclaves from defending their base when mines were planted in the area.

- We solved a rare crash that could result when destroying a plague heart with ignited bloater gas.

- Zombies should show up more often inside buildings while you are exploring.

- On the other hand, random zombies should now NOT show up inside an infestation that you’ve just cleared.

- Any attempt to pick up stackable items from the ground now tries to pick up all items in the stack.

Facilities

- You can now produce Ammo, Meds, and Food at your base with the right facility and ingredients.

Meds are produced in any Infirmary from parts, chemicals, and ethanol.

Ammo is produced in any Workshop or Armory out of parts and chemicals.

Food is produced in any Kitchen by spending seeds and ethanol (yum).

- You can now use your Parking facilities to move gas cans and toolkits directly from your community’s inventory into parked vehicles.

- The Infirmary now uses characters‘ nicknames, instead of their full names, making it consistent with the rest of the game.

Missions

- Missions that involve searching dead bodies or killing zombified humans now pinpoint the corpses with icons on the minimap, rather than requiring you to hunt for them near a marked location.

- We resolved an exploit that let players cancel Threatening to Leave missions by quitting and restarting the game.

- We fixed a potential case where some NPCs in an enclave would not be visible during an objective to kill them all.

Graphics

- We „tightened up the graphics“ to achieve higher and more consistent resolution and frame rate on the Xbox One.

- We improved the camera transition when moving into or out of a crouch while zoomed in.

- We reworked our anti-aliasing system to reduce ghost outlines and blur artifacts when rotating the camera.

- Lens flare effects are now smoother and crisper.

Multiplayer

- The Multiplayer section of the Settings Menu now has options for voice chat, and is generally awesomer.

- Most notably, we’ve added a push-to-talk option, and left it unbound for players to assign as they wish.

On a controller, we recommend D-Left (Emotes) if you want to swap out something that doesn’t directly impact gameplay.

- When a player speaks over in-game chat, their player indicator pulses to indicate which character is talking.

- When a client is tethered to a host who is driving a vehicle, they now land in a passenger seat in that vehicle, rather than being dumped by the side of the road like garbage.

- We fixed a rare case where the host would think a client’s character died if they sustained many injuries, healed, and then sustained more injuries.

- We fixed a rare crash bug that could occur when an Xbox client joined a UWP host just as the host is completing the search of a building.

- You can no longer make progress toward the Citizen Z achievement by using the „Stuck“ radio command, or by choosing and then cancelling the „Volunteer“ or „Call for Help“ commands.

Interface

- We reworked the use of icons in the HUD and the Character Panel, so that the icons that pop up next to the Health,

Stamina, and Infection meters can be followed all the way into the deepest menu to find out what they mean.

- The „Show HUD“ and „Show Notifications“ options in the Settings Menu now consistently turn on and off their respective UI elements.

- We clarified the visual language of the infection meter, to make it clear that you are progressing from a minor infection towards full-blown blood plague.

- On PC, the game will now recognize any plugged-in controller as belonging to the player, rather than specifically requiring the designated „Player 1“ controller.

- Dread Zones: Dieser Modus bietet erfahrenen Spielern spannende Herausforderungen,

- 16 new Achievements to earn in Dread Zones and Nightmare Zones, collectively worth 275 Gamerscore.

- A new interface for managing your legacy survivors. When you add new legacy characters to the pool, you get to decide who stays and who goes.

- A new menu that lets you choose your map when establishing a new community.

- A fix to plague hearts that makes them less vulnerable to explosions.

- A fix to the Stealth skill that keeps your character from creeping around by themself without your permission.

- A change that allows your inactive characters to heal when you are a client in multiplayer.

Gameplay

- Community Request: Sneaking with the Stealth skill no longer causes involuntary movement.

- Community Request: We improved how our characters held some firearms, to make sure their hands lined up with the proper grips.

- Community Request: CLEO weapons now award the correct experience types for improving Fighting specializations (like Striking and Swordplay).

- Community Request: Your character now remembers the state of their flashlight as they get in and out of vehicles. So if you get in with your light on, you get out with your light on.

- You can now break open the rucksack on your back while searching a container.

Zombies

- Community Request: Ambient zombies now actively avoid entering the Safe Zones around player bases, enclave bases, outposts, and other secured sites.

They will still chase you inside if you get their attention, but they won’t just wander in for no reason.

- Plague hearts now drop more loot in addition to the usual plague samples. (Let’s not think too hard about how these items got there.)

The loot gets better in Dread Zones, and reaches its apex in Nightmare Zones.

- We fixed a rare case where you could hit a zombie with an unexploded grenade and knock all their limbs off.

- We fixed a bug that was making plague hearts too sensitive to explosions. You can now expect killing a plague heart in a Standard Zone to take approximately:

7 soda can bombs OR 4 pipe bombs OR 3 frag grenades OR 2 C4 charges

 Radio Commands

- The item that triggers the Sniper Support radio command can now be used from within a vehicle.

- The Blood Plague Assistance supply drop now contains the intended two rucksacks, instead of only one.

- The Roadside Assistance supply drop can now contain multiple toolkits and gas cans, instead of only one of each.

Multiplayer

- Community Request: Inactive characters in a client’s community now heal at the same rate as the host’s inactive characters. This should help keep you going during long co-op games.

Depending on the host’s facilities, this healing can affect Health loss, trauma, and injuries.

- We reduced instances where a client driving a car could be tethered to the host, then arrive in the middle of an obstacle and immediately explode.

 Missions

- Community Request: We fixed a player-reported bug where a sniper rifle in one of the Eagle Eye missions was arriving with way more rounds in it than its magazine could hold.

- We fixed a bug that was causing bloater deaths not to be counted properly for some mission objectives.

Other Stuff

- Community Request: We fixed terrain and geometry in various places (including some called out by players) to prevent folks from unexpectedly crashing vehicles or getting stuck.

- We fixed a number of instances where characters could fall through the world.

- We made some improvements to hostile human AI, particularly around their base.

- We made further improvements to multiplayer stability.

M1918 BAR

M1A1 Thompson

M3 Grease Gun

Surplus M1911

M1917 Revolver

M1903A4 Sniper Rifle

M1 Carbine

M1 Para Carbine

M97 Trench Gun

Barrow Style BAR (a cut-down M1918 BAR)

Gangland Strad (an M1A1 Thompson with a drum magazine)

Graveyard Shift (an integrally-suppressed M3 Grease Gun)

T4/M2 Carbine (a fully-automatic variant of the M1 Carbine)

Characters

- Community Request: Nonplayer characters are now a lot less aggressive towards nearby enemies while talking to you.

They will still defend themselves if attacked, but they won’t break out of a conversation to chase a zombie that is across the building from them.

- Community Request: When you switch characters at an outpost, your old character now teleports home, rather than heading out on foot and probably dying (at least in the harder zones).

- Community Request: When you switch characters with your flashlight on, your new character starts out with their flashlight already on.

- Abandoned followers no longer teleport directly over your head like drop bears.

- We fixed a bug that was preventing characters from getting nicknames based on their last name.

This fix unlocks a huge list of nicknames that were not available before.

This fix also unlocks more nickname options for cops, soldiers, and other characters who go by really long or uncapitalized last names that historically haven’t fit well into the UI or the mission text.

Facilities

- The Sort Ammo action at the Storage facility has been rebalanced to make some of the rarer ammo types more common. Now you should generate:

About twice as many .357 rounds as before.

About 50% more .44 and 7.62mm rounds.

About 15% more 5.56mm rounds.

About 25% fewer 9mm rounds (to make up for it).

- Upgrading an Infirmary or Clinic no longer ejects its Blood Plague patients, which was causing their death timers to quietly resume. Survivors now remain checked-in after upgrades.

- The Scrum Certification skill now grants a speed bonus to the building of facilities, in addition to its original speed bonus to other facility actions.

Items

- Community Request: Quick-Repair Toolkits have been rebranded as Advanced Toolkits, and they now repair twice as much damage as standard Toolkits.

Their crafting cost and rarity are unchanged. They’re just better now.

- Community Request: Deployable Pyro Minefields now spawn with the correct rocket pods. They can set zombies on fire again.

- Community Request: In response to players finding certain crossbows overpowered against Plague Hearts,

we’ve reduced crossbow damage across the board (though headshots against zombies are still always deadly).

- Crossbow bolt impacts no longer play inappropriate audio.

- Characters with appropriate traits now have a chance of initially spawning with a crossbow.

This includes the new Crossbow Hunter trait.

- Unbreakable items no longer drop from Plague Hearts in a damaged condition

 User Experience

- Community Request: You can now hold Y (controller) or R (keyboard) to unload the ammunition from the magazine of a weapon in your inventory, so you can store it or use it elsewhere.

- Now when you’re transferring items from a vehicle inventory to your base, you can do it from any slot in your inventory, not just the vehicle slots.

- When playing with a mouse, you can now click the empty leader slot on the Community Screen to initiate leader selection, rather than having to press the spacebar.

- Community Request: We fixed a bug that was preventing freaks from appearing on the mini-map in Daybreak.

- Map icons for optional mission objectives have been recolored to stand out more against the background.

- Entering a site while in a vehicle no longer prevents room-clearing pips from appearing on the mini-map.

- If you interrupt a subtitle by conversing with an NPC, and then exit the conversation while the original line is still playing, the subtitle comes back, too.

Multiplayer

- Incoming clients now land in the host’s vehicle, if the host happens to be driving at the time.

- Bonuses to influence gains now apply to multiplayer rewards, in addition to standard in-game earnings.

- Nonplayer characters no longer fall through the world or spawn in the sky when exiting vehicles.

- Getting tethered with the map open no longer traps you on a black screen.

- We fixed a bug so that clients can now interact with built-in facilities after the host settles a new base.

- Community Request: Players can no longer throw Bloater Gas Grenades at other players and then disconnect, causing the damage from the grenade to suddenly kick in.

Explosives of all kinds now disappear when the character that triggered them goes away.

Dread and Nightmare Zones

- Community Request: Hostile humans in Nightmare Zones are now a bit less deadly with firearms.

Now when you suffer a headshot, you are protected from additional headshots for a short time afterwards.

The remaining sliver of health has doubled in size, leaving a bit more room for you to escape with your life.

- The True Grit achievement is no longer triggered simply by rolling over to Day 100 while in a Dread or Nightmare zone, even if most of those days were spent in a Standard Zone.

Now you must spend all 100 days in a more challenging zone.

Communities that are already in Dread and Nightmare zones when the update is installed will still be credited according the old rules.

- Difficulty descriptions no longer continue to display unnecessary warning text after you change difficulty.

- We fixed a crash that would occur if you managed to switch difficulties when your last survivor was dying.

Other Stuff

- Windows with multiple panes now break as you would expect, rather than quietly violating the laws of physics.

- We fixed a bug that was causing the game to begin without the characters or the world fully spawned in.

- We fixed a crash that occurred when a character was killed after being exiled.

General

- Community Request: We significantly improved load times across the board, particularly on the Xbox, significantly reducing the time it takes to get into the game or into a new map.

- Community Request: We significantly reduced the footprint of the game on the hard drive, as well as the download size of future updates. (The update that gets us here is still pretty big.)

- We now provide a direct link to support.stateofdecay.com in the Settings menu (under „Help & Support“) for players who run into bugs and other technical issues.

It also includes a QR code, if you prefer to get there via your phone.

Gameplay

- You now use the direction of your camera (instead of your character’s facing) to choose which interactive object to target.

This makes some situations (like entering the left rear door of a vehicle instead of refueling it) much easier to get right.

There is a new option on the Settings/Gameplay menu to change it back if you liked the old way.

- There are new keybinding options that allow you to split Dodge and Stealth onto separate buttons. If you want to try it out, here are some approaches we like:

On the keyboard, we recommend C for dodge and G for stealth.

On the Xbox controller, we recommend B for dodge and clicking the Right Stick for stealth (giving up zoom functionality for scoped weapons)

- Using items like painkillers, grenades, and mines is now much more reliable and responsive while moving and dodging.

- Dodging while tired or injured is now quicker, and you can follow up with another action sooner.

Inventory

- Community Request: You can now hold the „Drop“ button in your inventory to drop only one item from a stack. Ideal for sharing consumables with friends.

- Community Request: We added safeguards against modded „glitter bombs“ leaving a million Parts in hapless supply lockers.

- You can now unload weapons in supply drops.

- The game no longer claims that you can unload the weapons in a trader’s inventory, because that would be rude.

Characters

- Frequent and Emphatic Community Request: You can once again meet and recruit survivors who dress in green military clothing,

many of whom have military backgrounds and skills. Here is where you might encounter them:

The classic storyline about a disaffected soldier in a military enclave now features survivors in military clothing, as it did when the game was first released.

Any ambient mission now has a small chance of spawning survivors in military clothing.

For a limited time, we are offering a „Find Military Survivors“ radio command, allowing the very patient military enthusiasts in our audience to staff up much faster than normal.

- Community Request: We re-rebalanced the Red Talon Contractors and Soldiers as follows:

They are no longer irritated at everyone all the time.

We reduced the downsides associated with the Combat Medic, Pioneer, Squad Cook, Demolitionist, and Facilities Engineer backgrounds.

- Killing zombies with explosives grants a small amount of XP towards the Chemistry, Munitions, Outlaw Chemistry, and Bomb-Making skills.

- Survivors with the last name „Castellano“ no longer show up with a blank nickname.

Missions

- Builder: Elbow Room is now better at finding applicable bases, and has safeguards against getting stuck when it fails.

- Warlord: Weapons for All now allows you to spare the last enclave member without getting stuck.

- We fixed a bug that sometimes prevented Warlord: Personal Dead Zone from completing.

- Builder Legacy missions now automatically pin to the HUD.

Heartland

- Heartland-specific specializations for core skills now gain experience as intended.

This fixes Butchery, Field Testing, Gymnastics, Obsession, Scavenging, and Vigilance.

- We fixed some voodoo that was causing Reba, Diana, and Chavez to reset their timelines when they died, starting over from scratch. Now the only way they can rise from the dead is as zombies.

- We fixed a blocking issue in the first mission if Quincy or Larisse died, and then the game was restarted.

- Aunt Fi and Helena should no longer run to you from Jurassic Junction if Wilkerson Family Ties or Seeking Santos starts while the player is away.

- Aunt Fi should no longer teleport away at the beginning of A Real Fixer Upper.

- Scenes in Wilkerson Family Ties should now still play, even if Aunt Fi is dead.

- Malik no longer jumps in and speaks Larisse’s lines in Wilkerson Family Ties.

- We made sure Brock and Keesha were killable when they should be killable in the Santos and Wilkerson enclave arcs.

- We fixed another place where Malik could become immortal while playable.

- We fixed an issue where the Overrun mission would still make you clear out the plague heart if you canceled it.

- Xander’s enclave should now have appropriate enclave descriptions on the map screen.

Achievements

We fixed several Achievements that the game was failing to award progress for, including:

- Legacy Achievements

Be Still My Dog of War

I Am the Law

Speedy Delivery

If You Build It, They Will Come

- Plague Heart Achievements

Heart of Darkness

Total Eclipse

What We Do in the Shadows

These Dreams

- Other Achievements

Barley and Spoiled Blueberries

Sayonara

Miscellaneous

- Eight months after delivering the Holiday 2018 celebratory Wizard Van, we realized we should probably remove it.

- If you die of blood plague while exiting a vehicle, you will now stand up and die instead of soft-locking the game.

- We fixed an issue with AI pathing that was causing mission characters to dodge around you repeatedly while trying to stand where you were.

- We fixed an issue where clients in multiplayer games would hear muffled audio forever after they died.

- We fixed a few graphical issues with shadowing, especially with halo-like artifacts around characters.

- We fixed many minor issues with lighting and world geometry.

Other Changes

Technical

- We made major improvements to multiplayer stability, across the board.

- We made subtle advancements to our hair shader, improving the way hair looks under different lighting conditions.

- We fixed a bug that was hard-locking the game if you continued too soon after exiting to the main menu.

- We improved general stability and fixed some rare crashes.

Items

- All backpacks have been renamed to tell you what color they are. This should make it easier to coordinate backpacks with your new outfits!

- Recruits from military enclaves now carry a variety of different-sized military backpacks, instead of always having the same one.

Radio Commands

- The Recruit Military Survivors radio command was just a stopgap until the arrival of Customizable Outfits.

Now that you can dress your entire team in tactical uniforms and combat helmets, we’ve disabled that command.

Military enclaves will still continue to spawn naturally at a low rate, even without the radio command.

- We removed blind spots from the Locate Plague Heart radio command that were making it very difficult for some players to find and destroy their final Plague Heart.

If you’re stuck there, try it again after the update.

- We fixed a problem that made some rucksacks obtained via radio commands not count towards bounties and other mission objectives.

Gameplay

- We fixed a bug that made it impossible to cure some survivors of their second case of Blood Plague, after they had already survived it once.

- We fixed a bug that would lock you out of your ability to use a gun if you aimed too soon after dropping a mine while walking.

Missions

- We fixed some progression blockers in the early missions that would halt them awkwardly

if you performed actions out of order, such as healing your sick community member early by unexpected means.

- We removed the option to deny the Wilkersons their bomb-making materials in Local Personalities

because it broke continuity in the story and didn’t offer much value to the player community.

- We fixed a progression blocker in Vic: Reconnecting that would strand those characters without a mission if you quit partway through recruiting one of them.

- We fixed a progression blocker in the mission Action Hero Returns: Explosive Consequences.

- We also fixed a bug that would cause vehicles to experience physics problems on roads right after the tutorial.

Loot Changes

- Rare outfits are now much more likely to appear, once you have already found the more common variants.

This should help address the plight of players who have struggled to scavenge for their last few outfits.

- Clients can now find outfits as loot in all three maps, rather than only finding them in Cascade Hills.

- Repair Kits can now be found at Auto Shops, because of course they can.

- A version of the Golden Vulture (Brock’s ridiculous gun) can now sometimes be found in police evidence lockers and abandoned bags, or may be sold by the Mysterious Wandering Trader.

A firearm once owned by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Perhaps in your hands, it might signify something.

Additional Changes

- Several Apocalypse Vehicles have gained improvements to their cargo capacity.

The Hellion (upgraded hatchback) went from 5 to 6 spaces.

The Smashwagon (upgraded SUV) went from 6 to 7 spaces.

The Wichita ES (upgraded sedan) went from 4 to 7 spaces (finally justifying its cargo pod).

The Vandito (upgraded van) went from 8 to 9 spaces (making it the new top-capacity vehicle in the game).

- Muzzle attachments have been rebalanced to offer more interesting choices.

Suppressors are now tuned to the stats of the gun, and have additional drawbacks.

Suppressors now reduce the noise produced by a weapon based on its starting value, instead of replacing it with a fixed value.

So louder and quieter guns are still different from each other with suppressors attached.

The penalties to power and range have also been increased to 50%, across the board. More advanced suppressors now reduce power and range just as much as simpler suppressors.

The reduced power doesn’t affect headshots, but it does reduce the damage to large targets (like Juggernauts and Plague Hearts),

and it reduces the likelihood of other effects, like knockdown, dismemberment, and penetration.

Muzzle brakes now provide an increased chance of knockdown, dismemberment, or penetration, counterbalancing the drawbacks of suppressors.

To be clear, this means adding a muzzle brake can provide a chance for knockdown, dismemberment, or penetration to weapons not normally powerful enough to do those things.

Higher quality muzzle brakes provide a greater additional chance.

- We fixed a bunch of physics bugs with projectiles and launched objects, so grenades and molotovs should no longer bounce off enemies or penetrate through walls.

- We made some performance improvements to help keep a stable frame rate.

Localization

- We completed the process of localizing all text in the game for players who read Simplified Chinese, including dialogue subtitles.

Gameplay

- Characters whose maximum Stamina has dropped to zero no longer act as if they have full Stamina.

- Characters no longer stutter when moving left and right when performance dips.

Settings

- We fixed a problem that caused existing owners of State of Decay to end up with both Flashlight and Crouch accidentally bound to clicking the left stick on a controller.

If you have not already edited that control yourself or reset controls to default, then this update should correct the problem.

- We made it possible to manually rebind Interact and Quick Finisher to the same button, where previously, you could only get them into that configuration by resetting all the controls to default.

Missions

- Living at the Prescott Fire Station no longer prevents you from satisfying the Warlord Legacy requirement to build a Fighting Gym.

- The built-in Workshop at the Prescott Fire Station can now be used to fulfill the crafting requirements of the Builder Legacy.

Prestige

- Daybreak no longer inadvertently caps your prestige earnings at 9999.

Technical

- We fixed a potential crash when viewing the Legacy Pool from the Main Menu.

- We fixed an error that could occur when exiting the multiplayer menu in the Steam version of the game.

Other Changes

- We fixed a range of minor audio issues, including music that wasn’t quite long enough for the updated credits.

- We also made sure our most recent hires actually appeared in the credits for Juggernaut Edition.

- Pawn Shop Pack wird kostenlos hinzugefügt

- PPQ 45: A .45 caliber variant of the PPQ frame that uses polygonal rifling instead of “lands and grooves” to achieve extraordinary accuracy.

- G45: An evolution of the G19 that incorporates years of field experience into a new, highly durable version of the classic pistol.

- Hunter SKS: This rifle was modified with a scope and brake for pinpoint protein procurement. Now it has other uses.

- Non-Compliant SKS: This SKS joined an outlaw biker gang, adding full auto conversion, a high-capacity “double stack” magazine, and a high-speed optic.

- Wyrmling: A gorgeous new close-combat weapon that pairs well with its larger cousin, the Wyvern.

- Wyvern: The most elegant blade you could expect for three installments of $29.95. Pick up the Wyrmling to complete the set.

-  Guandao: An ancient, heavy blade meant to be swung with power. Use it to vanquish hordes of your enemies.

Gameplay

- Destroying an infestation now creates a temporary moratorium on the creation of new infestations, removing that annoying moment when an infestation pops up literally ten seconds after you cleared out the last one.

- The death of a zombie no longer automatically gets the attention of the horde they are a part of, making it much easier to quietly kill your way through a horde, one zombie at a time.

- When a zombie is on the ground next to a container, we now prioritize finishing the zombie with the interact button, rather than looting the container.

- AI-controlled humans are now able to shoot zombies out to the effective range of their weapons. (They were previously inadvertently limited to about 50 meters.)

This is particularly valuable to characters staffing Watchtowers.

- AI-controlled humans now get into vehicles more promptly, avoiding walking in indecisive circles beforehand.

Facilities

- We removed the influence cost to Reveal Map Exits at an upgraded Command Center, to smooth the path for players who want to try new maps.

- Checking a character into the Infirmary to halt the progress of Blood Plague no longer has an ongoing meds cost.

- Characters made “busy” by a mission can now still be checked into the Infirmary.

- We fixed an inconsistency in the amount of experience awarded for „Primary Care“ when used by an Infirmary 3 or Field Hospital.

It was 200, but now is reduced to 100 to match the same action on the Infirmary 1 or 2.

- We fixed an issue where “Emergency Medicine” awarded Mechanics skill experience, instead of Medicine skill experience.

Or maybe your survivors were actually robots up until now? Didn’t see that coming, did you?

- The new Ranger SUV can now be upgraded to a Smashwagon, like other SUVs.

Community

- The numbers that lead to characters starting fights based on their traits have been changed to fall in line with the existing morale thresholds. In general, this makes those characters less likely to start fights.

Characters with “irritable” traits won’t start fights unless they are below “Cheerful”.

Characters with traits that “start conflicts” won’t start fights unless they are below “Empowered”.

- Characters at your base will no longer complain about noise when the Threat level is less than 14.

- Morale-driven filth on characters is now visible in multiplayer. A reminder to make sure to shower before seeing other people.

- Running low on meds no longer issues an inaccurate “Food Dire!” penalty to morale. Survivors now recognize that bandages are not food.

User Interface

- Now when you equip an item (like a weapon or a backpack) directly from your supply locker or from a vehicle,

the game swaps your previously-equipped item back into that container, rather than dropping it into your inventory by default.

We made this change because in our experience as players, this is what we actually wanted the game to do about 99% of the time.

This does not apply to lootable containers out in the world, which still cannot receive items from you, but can only provide them.

- You can now click and drag scroll bars in the menus if you are using a mouse.

- Our “Achievement Unlocked” messages now appear at the top of the screen, to avoid obscuring subtitles.

- Moving to a new map in Nightmare no longer reveals all the Plague Hearts.

- Dead characters and empty leader slots no longer offer you access to their closets.

- We reduced the time it takes to load up and interact with the Community Screen, which was becoming an issue on some hardware.

- The keybinding screen no longer issues a warning when you leave the older Dodge/Crouch action unbound.

- We’ve bound the option to delete Legacy survivors via the Main Menu to the X button instead of the A button to prevent unfortunate accidents.

- Remember last update, when we said that we had made it possible to bind Interact and Quick Finisher to the same button? We made a mistake. That arrived in this update.

- We did some additional minor cleanup work on the interface, making sure you can see what you need to see.

Missions

- We fixed an issue with map markers on vehicles that was making them very difficult to find in missions like Action Hero: Fast CarsRookie Mistake, and the Mysterious Broadcast with the abandoned van.

- We slightly increased the starting resources for players who skip the tutorial. You now begin with 6 food, 2 meds, and 3 materials.

Builder: Gimme the Loot, though still rare, spawns more often than it once did.

Builder: Pillage and Plunder no longer instructs you to stick a rucksack in your supply locker.

Sheriff: Right of Way can no longer cost you an alliance with an enclave.

Claiming the Shop has had its missing map marker restored, making the shop much easier to claim.

Maslow’s Hierarchy no longer appears when you already have the Lounge it wants you to build.

Who Should Lead no longer doubles up on the same leader tutorial if you recruit a new community member who matches your current character’s leader type.

Connect with Other Survivors now handles the scenario where you start the mission already in the possession of a food rucksack.

Misc

- We added a console-only option to the Video Settings called TV Display Border (Overscan). You can use this to compensate if your television cuts off the edges of the game screen.

- We made several minor map fixes, with such effects as:

Avoiding players getting trapped by geometry, especially around their own parking spaces.

Preventing characters from spawning on rooftops.

Preventing players from getting trapped inside plague-engorged houses in Heartland. Because ick.

Creepy debris floating above the road. If you want to see weird floating debris on purpose, check out the game Overland.

- We fixed a few clipping issues on character outfits and hair.

- We also fixed a few rare crash and soft-lock bugs.

- We expanded our support for international keyboard standards.

French AZERTY keyboards now use ZQSD instead of WASD by default for movement. New users and users who reset their keybindings will receive the change.

Players with German and Italian keyboards can use 0 instead of = to sign out or reset their keybinds.

- We fixed multiple localization issues affecting text in various languages.

AI

- AI-controlled humans now engage more thoughtfully in combat, making better decisions about weapon use, staying focused when surrounded by zombies, and responding appropriately to freaks.

- AI-controlled followers will now prioritize getting into the car when you’re trying to beat a hasty retreat from combat, instead of going for just one … more … kill.

- Zombies near a player’s base will no longer be inexplicably drawn inside to cause unnecessary fights.

Zombies, especially hordes and freaks, now also do a better job at avoiding safe zones of all types.

- Knocking the helmet off an armored zombie no longer attracts attention from other zombies.

Morale

- Twice a day, characters with morale of Stable or higher now have a chance of finding extra resources each day, finding useful items, or finding weapons.

- Twice a day, characters with morale of Cheerful or higher may provide a variety of bonuses to the community, including morale boosts to all members of the community, resources, items, etc.

Missions

- Mission pacing has been re-tuned to reduce pressure, limiting the number of similar missions that can exist at once, and reducing the overall size of the typical mission list.

- The mission system also now pays more attention to context, with examples like:

Offering ambient missions when you’re away from base, and personal missions when you’re at home.

Making sure you have a resource available before asking you to donate a rucksack of it.

- The Bounty Broker’s introductory mission now generally appears when you enter his area of the map, rather than immediately after the starter missions are complete.

- Enclaves will now generally accept rucksacks of “Mystery Meat” to satisfy their requests for food. The game still won’t recognize that this makes you a terrible person.

- The starting mission when skipping the tutorial in the Dread Zone now correctly causes all plague hearts to appear on your map.

- Warlord: To Stop a Thief now avoids getting hung up if a character is accidentally killed by a zombie.

- Warlord: Might Makes Right now avoids getting hung up on the objective to upgrade your Fighting Gym to level 2.

- Builder: Useful Utilities now recognizes the power and water provided by the Prescott Fire Station, and no longer asks you to double up on them.

User Interface

- We fixed a problem that occasionally removed an incorrect plague heart from the map UI, causing it to seem that you had destroyed all the plague hearts on the map when you hadn’t.

- We revised a couple of common icons in the UI to make them easier to understand.

The icon identifying the Consumables tab on the Supply Locker now more accurately represents the items you are likely to find inside.

The map icon for “move to this location” mission objectives is now more recognizable as an arrow when zoomed all the way out.

Vehicles delivered by a radio command now have a different icon than supply drops summoned by a radio command, to help distinguish between them.

- Vehicles delivered by a radio commands are now always visible on the map until you first get into them (no matter how zoomed out your map is), just like supply drops summoned by radio commands.

- We fixed a bug that could cause players returning from multiplayer to lose access to their Difficulty menus.

- We fixed a bug that, under rare circumstances, was causing the Map and Difficulty selection interfaces to persist on-screen after they were supposed to go away.

Vehicles

- We identified and fixed a major cause of the problem where repairing a vehicle would cause it to float around the world or fly into the air.

Definitely keep an eye out for this one, because we would love to confirm whether it is really and truly gone, or if we have more potential causes to track down.

- You can now cram twice as many of a given item into each slot of a vehicle’s inventory. That means two toolkits, six fuel bombs, eighty bullets, etc. Weapons and rucksacks don’t stack.

- The Screamer no longer breaks phantom versions of your car windows again and again, across multiple screams. The first time those windows break, they now stay broken.

- A missing passenger door will no longer cause an AI passenger to slither continuously back and forth between the front and rear seats, as fun as that was to watch.

- Entering the right-rear seat of a vehicle now results in your character slithering all the way up into the driver’s seat., instead of stopping short at the passenger seat.

User Interface

- Defeated Plague Heart husks now appear on the Map screen until they are fully looted. Hovering on the icon will give you an accounting of what remains to be scavenged.

- Freaks that are integrated into hordes now show up separately on the mini-map alongside the horde icon, so you can clock incoming bloaters and ferals.

- Community save slots now display the name of the map where the community currently lives.

- We fixed a bug that was causing facility actions to report durations that were one minute higher than their actual durations.

- The Gas Station Jackets now have accurate color swatches to help you identify them at a glance in the Closet.

- Retailer-specific radio commands that summon exclusive supply drops and vehicles now do a much better job of characterizing what is about to be delivered.

- The greedy Daybreak technician is no longer hoarding multiple in-world icons to appear above their head. One is enough.

Controls

- The Repair action at the Supply Locker is now consistent for weapons in your inventory and weapons in the locker.

By default, this is Hold A on controller, and Hold C with a keyboard.

- Characters can no longer leap from ladders, as we found that this was primarily done by accident, and from very high places.

- Players using the old-school combined Dodge/Stealth combo button can now interrupt their aim by dodging again, just like they used to.

- The Sprint action no longer interrupts aiming unless you have the Toggle Aim option switched on.

- If you have rebound your Throw (while Grappling) action to the same button as your Aim action, you will no longer release a grappled zombie and aim your gun at it when you meant to throw it.

This will probably only help one specific player. You’re welcome, Matt.

Zombies

- Zombies can no longer see through wooden fences, cars, or doors.

This should make stealth a lot more intuitive, especially in denser environments. (Thanks to GoudaBuddha for noticing this!)

- Zombies will now spawn in buildings before you enter the building.

This means that you can predict what you’ll encounter before entering buildings, and you shouldn’t get ambushed by sudden spawns nearly as frequently while inside.

Also, sheds are no longer guaranteed to be safe. Enter at your own risk!

Outposts

- Skill training actions at upgraded outposts can now be performed either at the base or in person at the outpost.

- The Overpriced Hot Dog Stand and the Freaky Garage in Trumbull Valley no longer claim to be outpostable when they are not.

- The Army Medical Tent near Jurassic Junction can now be claimed as an outpost.

- We closed an exploit that allowed players to use the Wind Farm’s labor-intensive strategy without sufficient labor.

Bases and Facilities

- We reworked the Sturdy Bunkhouses at the Farmland Compound to fix an annoying issue with passive activation pop-ups happening too frequently.

Now you have full control over whether you want to use it as a 6-bed facility, or as an 8-bed facility with -5 to morale.

- Crafting actions at the Biochem Station now correctly award the skill experience that they say they do.

- Base defenders can now successfully climb up into a Sniper Tower built at Camp Kelenqua.

- We fixed an issue that was causing community members to walk in circles at the Farmland Compound.

- We improved the way that base facility icons are displayed, especially at unusual aspect ratios.

- Parking slots now have visible icons, even when you are outside the base.

Missions

- We loosened up the spawning requirements for Trade Depot traders, so hopefully, you should find the radio commands to summon them much more reliable than they were before.

- Plague Zombies now reliably appear in the initial Medical Emergency mission when you are searching the nearby ruin for plague samples to manufacture your first cure: even if you’ve already scouted the place.

- You can now threaten the enclave from Warlord: Weapons for All, even after the mission is over, if you’re tired of their overpriced garbage.

- Alexis Carter now leaves when you ask her to, whenever she ventures out of Trumbull Valley to trade on the other maps.

- Early Builder, Sheriff, and Warlord missions no longer automatically pin themselves over your other ongoing missions.

Other Stuff

- Stacks of items are now re-merged in your inventory when you select a skill specialization that increases their limits.

- We’ve killed all remaining uses of the “slow” animation for picking items up off the ground. No more running into one particular item that seems much harder to pick up than the others.

- The benefits to ammo stacks from having the Assault skill are now being correctly applied to multiplayer clients.

- We removed the Red Talon weapons and the Timberwolf from the Rare Weapon Container loot table, as those weapons were available from other sources, and thus more disappointing to roll at random.

- We increased the cooldown on the dialogue line that explains that you cannot claim a site within plague territory. We suspect that everyone gets it now, and it was getting repetitive.

- We also fixed numerous minor issues with environment art, collision, navigation, and character outfits.

Environment

- The sidewalks in Heartland have been nerfed. You should now be able to walk all over them.

- We added claim objects to a few sites in Trumbull Valley that were previously unclaimable.

Gameplay

- Human AI now only shoots at targets it can actually see, avoiding some fruitless shooting into walls and obstacles.

- We improved muzzle flashes to be more consistently attached to the muzzles of ranged weapons.

User Interface

- We now highlight the last vehicle you used on the map, to make it easier to find your ride when you parked it in the middle of a vehicle graveyard.

- The badges on new radio commands now disappear immediately as you highlight them, and the game remembers which ones you’ve already cleared.

- We now pause the game when Change Maps screen is open, to prevent you from being eaten by zombies while planning your road trip.

- The weapon HUD is no longer visible when you are sitting in a vehicle, as it was prompting you to perform actions that you could not actually perform there.

- The swap weapons button on mouse and keyboard now works with the inventory panel open, regardless of where your cursor is.

- We fixed a situation where you could accidentally delete a muzzle attachment.

- The messaging is now clearer when a facility action is disabled because of another ongoing action.

- We got rid of a weird green checkmark next to the population listing for an enclave.

Bases and Facilities

- You can now upgrade a vehicle by interacting with the parking slot in person, using an upgrade kit in your inventory.

- We replaced an accidental temporary icon that would appear when the Haven Device was powered down.

Missions

- We removed a nonworking developer item from the weapon-sellers‘ wares in the Warlord: Weapons for All mission.

- You now have the option to cancel IzzBee’s Breaking the Code mission in Trumbull Valley, like you can with many other Homecoming missions.

- The Clean Slate mission with the military enclave no longer spawns infestations on top of other enclaves.

Quality of Life Improvements

Environment

- We fixed a small hole in the ground northwest of Jurassic Junction in Trumbull Valley

Gameplay

- The Echo Lab Research Station can once again produce 10 Plague Samples if your community has the Pathology skill, as it should.

- Gunslinging’s Aim Snap ability no longer removes spread on shotguns. The Aim Snap target will be hit, but the spread is now preserved.

- The host’s character will now fall when standing on top of a moving vehicle. Sorry to take car surfing away again.

- We fixed an issue where characters can be stuck in a state where they can’t move after briefly sprinting. This should no longer occur.

- Dismissing a follower while crouching no longer causes that AI character to crouch walk everywhere.

User Interface

- Red Talon and Network specific weapons now have small icons in the corner of their inventory squares to help identify them. Note: This iconography is not associated with a Bounty Pack.

- The Secken’s Work Station site has stopped its lying ways and no longer says it’s claimable.

Bases and Facilities

- Updated the Landmark Outpost menu to clarify initial vs ongoing resource cost presentation for Landmark Outpost Strategies.

- The Haven Device build description now calls out that the player will need to find the Haven Capsule in Trumbull Valley. (hint: Help Izzbee and Dr. Hoffmann.)

- Instead of constantly enabling and disabling, the “Packing the Bunk” passive now stays enabled in communities with 8 or more survivors.

Missions

- Refusing to help in “Marshall Stories: New in Town” now causes the mission to fail. That’s what you wanted, right? Jerks.

- In Heartland, dialogue no longer plays out of order during “Neighborhood Unrest” when Quincy is dead.

- The Still Life mission now tells you the name of the site where you should go.

Miscellaneous

- Advanced Toolkits can now sometimes be found in Plague Hearts on Lethal difficulty.

Verbesserung der Lebensqualität

Umgebung

Plague Hearts

- Now all Plague Hearts on a given map start out dormant - that is not actively trying to seek out and destroy your Base. However, they don’t remain dormant forever

Dormant / awake Plague Hearts each have a unique icon on the map and menus

- As you explore Plague Territory, certain actions now raise the alertness of a Plague Heart until it fully “awakens” and begins sending out Infesting Hordes

- After a Plague Heart is awakened, it will begin sending Infesting Hordes out to create and reinforce Infested Sites along the way to your Base

Awakened Plague Hearts never become dormant again and must be destroyed

- Destroying a Plague Heart after it awakens will cause all of its created Infestations to wither over time, losing strength and zombies, until they dissipate on their own

Infesting Hordes

- Awakened Plague Hearts begin regularly launching Infesting Hordes out into the world

When arriving at an uninfested location, Infesting Hordes create new Infestations, effectively making an outpost for the Horde

When arriving at a currently infested location, Infesting Hordes increase the Severity of that Infestation, bolstering it with even MORE zombies

- Infestations can also generate Infesting Hordes, though this does lower their Severity as a portion of the zombies pick up and follow a Screamer to a new location

- If a player owned Outpost becomes infested any active benefits are nullified until the infestation is cleared out

- Destroy an Infesting Horde before it arrives at a destination to slow Infestation growth

- The more Noise in your base, the faster Infestations grow and spread to your base - quieter bases take longer for Hordes to locate and reach

Infestations

- Infestations, once created, have a number above them to indicate their Severity Level

Higher Severity Infestations have more zombies, eventually attracting dangerous Freaks like Ferals and Juggernauts into the mix

Loot can now drop from killing non-Screamer Freaks present at infestations

- Since Screamers control Infestations on behalf of the Plague Hearts, killing all Screamers present at an Infestation will clear the Infestation instantly

The Severity Level of an Infestation is tied to how many Screamers are present, so you always know how many to look for at each Severity

- Each Infesting Horde that arrives at an Infestation will increase the Severity Level

- Each Infesting Horde that leaves from an Infestation will decrease the Severity Level

When a Plague Heart controlling an Infestation (indicated by highlighting the Infestation on the map) is destroyed, that Infestation’s Severity Level ticks down over time to 0 and eventually clears itself automatically

- Infestations also increase the density of the ambient zombie population around them

Siege Sites

- When an Infesting Horde reaches an infestable location close enough to launch a Horde directly at your Base, it may create a Siege Site instead of a regular Infestation

Siege Sites, like infestations can also be reinforced and grow in severity

- As long as Siege Sites exist, there is a chance for them to trigger a Siege, which results in Siege Hordes being launched from every active Siege Site toward your Base

This decreases the Severity of a Siege Site, same as Infestations

Siege Hordes are released in waves until every Siege Site has reached 0 Severity and despawn (or Siege Sites are manually killed)

- The chance of a Siege triggering is represented by your Base’s Threat

The number of Siege Sites and their Severity both increase Threat

Higher Threat means longer, harder Sieges

- Siege Sites can be attacked and pruned before a Siege triggers, just like Infestations

Killing all the Screamers present will also automatically clear Siege Sites

Sieges

- Sieges have a chance to trigger based on your current Threat level (higher Threat, the higher the chance and difficulty)

The Siege itself takes some extra time before beginning, with the Siege Hordes collecting nearby outside of your base until they decide to strike

- Unlike Infestations which get weaker as their Severity level decreases, the waves of Siege Hordes released by the Siege Sites launch in order from easiest to hardest

- Siege Hordes assault the base whether you’re present or not, and once it has been triggered a Siege will only end when all Siege Sites are destroyed or depleted

- If your active character was not present and contributing during a wave, you will see a Siege Consequence notification letting you know how your survivors did without you

Siege Consequences are applied at random based on siege sites and your selected Difficulty, but it’s never good: they range from survivor injuries to facility damage or worse

Arriving at your base anytime during a Siege will prevent any Siege Consequences from being applied for that wave and any you’re present for

If you miss a few waves you can still show up late and save the day - all Consequences stop when you arrive before that wave’s end

Prestige is given to the player at the end of the siege based on each siege wave they are present for.

Radio Commands

- You’re not in this alone - you can use the Radio to send Survivors from your Community to help deal with Infestations while you attend to other matters

- The “Scout All Infestations” call will consume fuel in exchange for a Survivor driving around locating new Infestations you might not be aware of

- The “Take out a nearby infestation” call will help mitigate some of the growth by automatically pruning an Infestation on the map for you

Outpost Defenses

- Similar to Radio commands, your Outposts can also be leveraged to fight back against the Infestations by enabling Outpost Defenses

These Outpost Defenses have costs and durations, but when used correctly can provide unique strategies for containing Infestation growth

- Incendiary Landmines, when enabled on Outposts along frequently traveled Horde routes, will automatically blow them up, along with any ambient zombies as they enter the safezone, preventing Infestation growth

Infestation Bait, when enabled on Outposts attract and reroute any infesting hordes that enter the scouting range of the outpost where it is activated

It will also slowly deinfest existing infestations in range by forcing them to send out hordes targeting the outpost until either the outpost is infested, the infestations in range are destroyed, or the time limit is elapsed

- Plague Disruptor, when enabled on Cell Tower Outposts, will greatly reduce the plague heart's sensitivity to actions that contribute to waking it up.

- Hovering over your home base or outposts to see their scouting range. The player will be notified when Infesting hordes, ambient hordes, and freaks that path through these scouting ranges and their icons will be added to the map.

Quality of Life Fixes:

- Characters that are busy will now be labeled as such on the community hierarchy screen when changing characters.

- Larger vehicles have increased trunk space.

- First Aid Kits can now be dropped 1 at a time.

- Vertical view angles have been increased when operating your camera.

Bug Fixes:

- Ferals will once again be able to climb walls in Daybreak.

- Some communities that were triggering crashes on load will no longer do so and should be restored to a usable state.

- Using a bandage inside a container is no longer interrupted by closing the container.

- The ranged weapons and ammo tab of the supply locker now sorts caliber correctly.

- Audio on the community creation screen no longer repeats or spams the player.

- We have adjusted the key mapping for sending community members to your legacy pool, fixing an issue where other actions could be bound to the same key.

Curveball Update
